Illustration Study | At the Bus Stop

At the Bus Stop
Design Process
My teachers proposed a lot of preparation for thesis in our fourth year. I was assigned to make many illustration studies that would relate to the thesis I wanted to do. My goal was create an illustration study and in my stylized simplified format.

I started with making rough lifework with myself and began to block in the colours. To simplify, I blocked in the shadows, streets and made sure I could understand the form even if it wasn't exactly like the reference photo I took.

The challenge I had with this illustration was creating the shadows of the trees around me in the reference photo. I didn't want the study to be exactly like the shadow so I experimented with different textured brushes. The paint brushes I had in procreate did a great job making the similar effect that shadows were casted.

After all the blocking in, it was a matter of adding more lighting and texture to the streets.
